WHAT IS AN ECOMMERCE STORE?

An Ecommerce store is an online store where a client can have their own website with their own brand and logo to sell goods they have chosen. An online store allows the client to have the whole world as its market with around the clock availability. FDA partners with a dropship fulfillment company called Oberlo and the Shopify platform to ensure our clients have the necessary suite of services to simplify the process of running an online store.

WHAT IS DROP SHIPPING?

Drop shipping is a retail fulfillment method! What this means is that the store, which could be your business, does not keep the products that it sells in stock. When a product is sold from a drop shipping store, the item(s) purchased ship from the third -party supplier and are shipped directly to the customer. Drop shipping is a legal form of order fulfillment used globally.

HOW DOES FDA WORK WITH SHOPIFY?

Once you create your brand name and come up with the idea of what you would like your new business to sell, FDA will create your branded online store on the Shopify platform. You will have a wide range of products to choose from that can be added to your store. The FDA Development team will work magic to make your custom store very appealing. Once the store is developed and you have taken ownership, you have the choice to market your own store or have the FDA team create ongoing marketing packages for a separate fee.

An ongoing subscription with Shopify is required to host your store once it is live on the internet. Basic membership subscriptions start at $29.

WHAT IS THE BENEFIT TO A DROP SHIPPING SALES PLATFORM AS OPPOSED TO AMAZON SELLING OR AFFILIATE MARKETING?

Amazon requires a seller to provide proof of product/inventory before they are allowed to sell on their site. For example, you must have at least 100 pieces of product, in storage, and maintain that inventory. Drop shipping alleviates the cost of purchasing the product up front and continued storage.

Affiliate marketing is a business model where you promote products and offers for another company. People involved in affiliate marketing make commissions on each sale. Drop shipping gives you more freedom with your products, prices, and store esthetics. You are in control of what products you choose for your store, their prices, and how you want your business to appeal to a consumer. As well, your sales are not commission based with drop shipping.

WHAT ARE SOME OTHER THINGS THAT WOULD BE IMPORTANT TO KNOW IF I WANT TO START AN ECOMMERCE STORE??

  • Store owner must be at least 18 years of age
  • Stores can be created in different languages and different applications can be utilized to have customer purchases converted in their local currency
  • Our platform offers applications that can assist with invoices that can be done in multiple languages or currencies, and create compliant templates automated for a number of different countries
  • Once FDA completes your store, you will be able to automatically accept all major payment methods
  • A mobile application is included for customer shopping and oversight to your business
  • Blog features can be built or added to your store if you are already on a blog platform
  • FDA can suggest products for your store based on a niche market you decide on.
  • Your store can hold 50 different products (additional products at an additional fee)

DO I NEED TO HAVE MY OWN BRAND NAME AND/OR DOMAIN WHEN I AM READY TO ENGAGE WITH FDA FOR THE CREATION OF A STORE?

We require our clients to have their brand names ready so we can immediately begin construction of your business after purchase. If you are struggling with deciding on a brand name, we recommend using a business name generator and browsing through sites like www.shopify.com/domains and GoDaddy to see if any domains that interest you are available.

FDA does not supply a custom web address. Once complete, you will receive a website domain with a Shopify domain name if you do not choose your own custom web address.

FDA does recommend having a custom web address/domain. We do believe that having a custom look will help your website establish credibility and make your clients feel more comfortable purchasing with an established business. If you have a custom domain related to your industry, it can help you rank higher when your site is search with related keywords. In addition, having a unique name helps clients remember you and find your business at a later date.

DO I NEED TO HAVE MY LOGO AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE?

You only need to know your brand name at the time of purchase. We will create a logo for you that you’ll be able to review to make sure it’s exactly what you have envisioned for your business. However, if you do have a logo made for your brand already, we would be happy to use that for your business construction, as long as you are able to provide the proper files.

WILL MY CLIENTS GET ACCESS TO CUSTOMER SUPPORT FROM MY WEBSITE?

When FDA provides our clients with their stores, this service does not include a customer service feature that is specific to your store. This portion of the business is required to be handled by the business owner on a communication platform they decide best suites their business.

DO I NEED A TAX ID TO SELL PRODUCTS IN MY ONLINE STORE?

When we construct your store, having this information is not necessary; however, according to the IRS, all businesses are required to have an Employee Identification number (EIN), which essentially acts as social security number for your business. You will need this number to file your taxes or do anything officially with your business.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO IF I AM READY TO COMMITT TO PURCHASE AN ECOMMERCE STORE?

We will follow up with our Client Template Form, instructions on how to complete the form and payment instructions. FDA requires a completed Template and payment in full before we can begin the work for your custom store.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO KNOW REGARDING CBD AND HEMP STORES

  • FDA cannot legally build a CBD or Hemp store based outside of the U.S.
  • Within the U.S., some payment processors will not handle transactions for a CBD or HEMP store – as a store owner, you should do your research on this item.
  • FDA cannot add any flammable CBD or HEMP products to any on-line store
  • FDA partners with Shopify to create your online store. Shopify has an Attestation for the Sale of Hemp and Hemp Derived Products that you will need to review once you are store owner. If you do not read and submit this form, your store will get shut down for not following Shopify guidelines.
